A Simple WhatsApp Can Occur Complications
Many Malaysian were disturbed by the Whatsaap message saying that there will be a terrorist attack. The message blasted tremendously in the social network among individuals and groups.
The message was as such, “Dear Family and Friends Please keep away from shopping malls and crowded areas for sometimes as it is said that our country has become a target for terrorist attack especially during Xmas and New Year. This is not joke. Warnings have been given by the government. Please forward this message to your love ones and spread the awareness.’
This rumour was encountered by The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). Inspector-General of Police Secretariat assistant head (Corporate Communications), ACP Datin Asmawati Ahmad on Tuesday said the rumour spread through social media like WhatsApp was false.
“The posting via Whatsapp asks people not to visit the shopping complexes and public places for the time being to avoid any untoward incident.
“It also claims that the government has issued a warning on the matter and is asking the people to be cautious,” she said in a statement.
Our nations should verify news that they receive before forwarding or believing it. Try to not forward news which is not verified to avoid complications. Moreover, the public is advised by PDRM not to easily believe such a rumour and not to disseminate or share such false information with others, as the action is not only irresponsible but could also affect public order and their daily activities.
