Shakti Returns, is a story of 10 women. The 10 women are a single mother, a courageous lady, a teacher, an artist, a savior, the dutiful one, a rape victim, an entrepreneur, the street dweller and a lawyer. There is Shakti which means power in each woman. Do you see it in your mortal eyes? She is the every woman that we pass by daily.
The production revolves around 10 women and their life. 10 Vidhyas or wisdoms are symbolically shown the inner qualities of women as Kali, Thirupusasundari, Tara, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamala.
The organizer of Shakti Returns is Malaysian Performing Arts Society (Asthana) and the Co-Organizer is Agenda Suria Communication Chief Artistic Director and Producer Ravi Shanker. The Artistic Director is Ray Mooventhiran from Asthana Arts. The composition and lyrics did by Maka Dr. Burn Athiruban. The vocalists are Gayathri Vadivel and Maka Dr. Burn Athiruban. The musical instruments such as Veenai is played by Kabbil Rajj and Konnakkul by Ashwin Ravindren.
The casts of Shakti Returns are Renetha as Shakti, Joshua Benedict as Villain, the Dasamahavidya roles by Vikneswary Gunasegaran as Kamala, Delani Tharmalingam as Thirupurasundari, Aahmu Thirunyanam as Bhuvaneswary, Thinesh Rajaindren as Tara, Ashiwini Jayabalan as Bhairavi, Jamuna Morgan as Matangi, Sugitha Nadarajah as Dumathy, Diwya Nair Kesawan Nair as Bagalamuki, Pavitheran Manoharan as Chinnamasta, Kannan Rajamanickam as Maha Kalia and Indrani Elil as Aathi Parashakti.
The dancers are Elango Munian, Inthiran Manikam, Janathan Jairaj, Mohanes Kumar, Mohd Azmi Sabaruddin, Nantha Kumar, Narendran Chandran, Shaankar Seran, Saravana, Kumar Selian and Putra Abdul Rahman. The Styling and Make up did by Apsara Asia’s Kannan Rajamanickam, Shaveera Creation’s Paviteranraj Manoharan and Ardana Haran’s Hari Haran Arasu. The Director of Shakti Returns is Wickneswaran Kaliaperumal and also known as Ugly Ducklings. The choregrapher is Ashiwni Jayabalan.
