Award Winning Promising Actor Prem Ananth
Those who listen to Minnal FM’s news may have heard the name Prem Ananth Thanimalai at least once. Not many people know that, in the hearts of the news composer, there is a huge space full of love towards Tamil entertainment industry in Malaysia. He was born in Soon Lee Estate of Bagan Serai, Perak and more popularly known as Prem. He completed his primary education in the estate’s Tamil school and continued hi secondary studies at Bagan Serai too. He went to Ipoh to polytechnic to complete higher education. Upon completion he shifted to Kuala Lumpur to start his career and now he is KLties.
He left his temporary job and joined ASTRO in production department when the opportunity knocked his door. That’s where the love towards entertainment industry started blooming in his hearts. He started with writing jingles and voice over for some famous advertisements. However he was an all-rounder in the production department which provided him tonnes of knowledge and experience. With that, he joined Bernama as TV journalist and had opportunities to meet and mingle with many great artists of MyWood. With his great voice and language command, he was invited to act in Radio dramas. He still recalls how he got his first chance from Sandra Suriya and thanked her for the chance. He received more opportunities for radio dramas and too date his voice has been heard in more than 200 radio dramas which created a set of fans for him.
He further explained that, he received Telemovie and TV drama chance after started with radio. When once of the radio dramas was planned to reproduce as TV drama he was offered the same role he played in radio. ‘Vayasu Appadi’ is the first telemovie he acted. Director Francis Selvan’s ‘Oru Kalaignanin Kanavu’ was the telemovie earned him recognitions from other senior artists of MyWood. Prem said it was their praises are similar to their blessing and continued that, Telemovies and TV drama opportunities came one after another. In the last few years of Deepavali, there will be at least one telemovie aired in national TVs with Prem playing a major role. This shows he is one of the important artists in MyWood. To date he has acted in excess of 15 telemovies and more than 30 TV serial dramas.
He like to act in TV and Radio dramas and movies, but he is passionate about stage dramas especially literature based dramas. He played the roles of Kabilar in Thiruvalluvar Drama, Thuroner in Bhismar drama and recently plays as Suryavarman in the King Raja Raja Chozan stage drama. He stars in every angle of voice over, acting in different platforms. There are not many who can perform in different dimensions and Prem is a rare gem in MyWood.
When we asked what his future plan is, he said “I will act with my ability in the chances i get. I’ll put my thoughts in writing when think about arts and Tamil. I don’t have any goals to reach the peak of industry or directing a movie. Acting alone is enough”, which shows his humbleness.
Prem was awarded the best actor in 2 separate occasions and been awarded with certificate of appreciation by NLFCS for his contributions towards MyWood. He also has won the news industry’s best news composer award by the government which saw though completion by other language news composers in 2011. ITimes wished him congratulation for his achievement and good luck for his future projects.
