Its a serious allegation if someone says there is less opportunity for the GenY Indians in Malaysia. We have everything in Malaysia. Wealth, freedom, business opportunity and not to forget the food. The Indian youths should look for the available opportunities and grab them to succeed in business and life. This must be their first priority. iTimes.my has interviewed a few energetic vibrant youngsters to provide their view about the opportunities available for Indians in business in this country.
We first interviewed Mr.Praba who is running an Information Technology business . “After I completed my studies, started working in a private firm. They have been doing web development, software development and hardware sales. The business kept on increasing day by day. However, the organisation were unable to cope up with the growing business. They have decided to let go my department even though it was doing well. They offered me to be transferred to another department. But, I refused and quit from that company. With the experience gained and little savings I had, I started my own company which focuses on what I was doing for someone else. Now the business is growing. Technology has been improving as we progress. We can capitalize from this technological advancement in any business.” he said.
“The keyword for GenY is trend. They want to look cool and trendy all the time. If not they feel they will be isolated from their peers. We can observe the GenY youths look at their trend. If we can identify their current trend, we can convert that trendiness to be a business. That’s how I got into mehndi business. Mehndi used to be Indian traditional and very popular during weddings only. But now it has become a fashion. It has grown to be a craze in ladies not only in Indians but also with other races. I recognised this trend and developed my own patterns for mehndi. I’m very happy as my business is growing.” said Ms.Ananthi.
“Franchise is a great opportunity. It’s like taking an existing business from one place and duplicate it in another place. That includes sectors as food and beverage, services, retail and others. McDonald’s, Bonia, 7-11 and Rockwills are some of the examples. In Malaysia, there are about 174 franchise businesses that we can take and run on our own. Some of the brands are available for Malaysian market only and some have an international presence. I‘ve selected one of the franchise business and running it successfully. All we need to do is pay a fee for the license. They will provide the details, trainings and other related helps to setup the franchise store. This will be one of the best way of generating income via business” said Yohan Vivekanandan who is running his own ice-cream franchise business.
Priyan, Brickfields, “ My dad was running a small restaurant. When I inherited his business, I decided to bring the business to different direction. So, I quickly made a plan. After some initial study and preliminary work, I put my plan into action. Now the same business is 10 times bigger than what it used to be. We don’t have to invent new business or look for new business. All we need to do is modernizing our traditional business a little and we can be successfull.
Mr.Raj and Ms.Selvi agreed with each other, business is the best way to get a good income . We should start the business small and must take it from there to make it big.
We have a lot of business opportunities in Malaysia. How to identify the opportunities and capitalize them will be the questions that need to be asked. As mentioned by these entrepreneurs, the youths need to grab this opportunity. We should not forget that, there is a lot of financial help can be obtained from many sources. Anything is achievable by the GenY when the correct effort is put into what they want to do.
