From Finance Minister to Economic Advisor

What are Anwar’s Future Plans For Indians

Anwar Ibrahim, even though an opposition leader, we can’t deny the fact that he was the former finance minister and also Deputy Prime Minister before year the 1998 under the ruling of Barisan Nasional when he was an UMNO member.

Due to his vast experience, he made his steps to posses the position as the Economic Advisor of Selangor. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was appointed by the former Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim in the year 2009. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was given an operating office office was with the salary of RM 1 only.

Recently on 22 September 2014, under the supervision of the former Mentri Besar, Anwar’s office was shut down instantly and rumors claimed that Anwar Ibrahim is expelled from his position. The CEO of Mentri Besar Incorporate, Faekah Husin said that the decision was taken to reduce the state cost and also economical matters can be handled fully by MBI.

During the ruling of Khir Toyo as the MB, Selangor was undergoing crucial debt. That leaded the people in the state to lose hope and trust on Khir Toyo. Eventhough Khir Toyo managed to bring many changes and development in Selangor, yet he was considered as a failure. After the election in the year 2008, Khir Toyo lost and Khalid Ibrahim took over the position.

Do you think Khalid Ibrahim with a corporate background can take control of the political arena? Do you think Khalid played a one-man show without Anwar’s guidance? Khalid himself has released statements that Anwar is a great contributor to the state. Khir Toyo handed over Selangor to Khalid with debts and Selangor manage to revive with millions of turnover as Anwar was believed to be the key person for it. Khalid also agreed that Anwar contributed positive development to the state and manage to build up networks between other countries to gain income for the state.

Azmin Ali, who took over Khalid’s position strongly said that Anwar is still the Economic Advisor and he will be provided with an office and also other services if needed. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has proved that he, not only the De Facto Leader but he is capable of creating and mentoring the best leaders, like Azmin Ali, Nurul Izzah, Rafizi Ramli and many others. However, shutting down the office will not bring many changes because Anwar will retain and remain.

The Selangor Government under Anwar Ibrahim’s advisory manage to recover the Selangor debts within two terms. That shows his capability of managing the finance and leading the economy very well. What are the skill used by Anwar to do this in no time? Now, Selangor has a new MB, somebody who is very close to Anwar Ibrahim. Many NGO leaders are expressing dissatisfaction during Khalid’s term, that’s where Pakatan won with only a comfortable majority compared to the past election. Will Anwar take this in is account? Will the new MB and Anwar take this into serious consideration to obtain majority votes the next election? How soon this combination can give us the results and win the heart of Selagorians especially Indians who make major differences in the number of votes.
