Rotary Club Shah Alam, Rotary Club Bukit Kiara Sunrise, Rotary Club Greater Kuala Lumpur and Rotary Club Klang Central team up and organized a Humanitarian Project Medical Camp on 29th March 2015 for society and homeland. Presence of Sri Andalas State Assemblyman, the Honorable Tuan Dr. A. Xavier Jayakumar, Member of Parliament for Klang, The Honorable Tuan Charles Santiago, District 3300 Rotary Governor Kirenjit Kaur and Puan Sri Coleen Herbert from Lion Group Medical Assistance Fund made the day more pleasant to the eyes.
There were medical screening and health information and consultation provided with free of charge. This Free Medical Camp held at the Community hall of Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk Zone 10, Section 27, Shah Alam, Persiaran Raja Muda Musa Tamil Primary School and Watson Tamil Primary School. Good hearted Interactors from Sri Hartamas Secondary School and Research Excellent Fund Awardees (REF) lend a hand for this Humanitarian Project Medical Camp.
The mission of the Humanitarian Project Medical Camp is to create health awareness in the middle of people within the low and medium price tag housing area, make available at no cost medical consultation to the poor and underprivileged community in this area and mete out free vitamins, medicine, corrective lenses and also other related pharmaceutical products when necessary.
There are many of the ordinary programs have been carried out as medical consultation and dispensing medication by doctors at station, nutritional counseling and dispensing of supplements, Flu vaccine injections for H1N1, Blood & Glaucoma test for urine test, blood sugar and cholesterol, dental services and checks, Bone scan, Ultrasound check for certain patients, Body Mass Index (BMI), Eye Check and Blood Pressure check and Breast self exam (BSE) and registration for free Mammogram x-ray and also Cancer screen by National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA). There were also complimentary medicines as medical advisors and Tuinalogy a meridian point massage and complementary Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Cupping. Last but not least, there was a blood donation slot in the successful occasion.
Free Spectacles with corrective lens were given for 50 children aged 12 years and below, 80 refugees were given a free health checkup with buses provided for pick up at designated section, 550 Flu shots were administered on that day, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) has provided feeder bus to ferry all the surrounding community to be able to attend the Health Camp. The Mayor of Shah Alam and all his councilors attended and participated in our event. There was a total turnout of more than 550 participants and all participants were also given goody bags which were provided by MBSA and Rotarians from both clubs.
This Humanitarian Project Medical Camp was made possible through the generous support of Municipal of Shah Alam-MBSA-Zon 10, Taipei Medical Centre, Columbia Asia Hospital, Bukit Rimau, Forrest Medical Group, Vision College, Pfizer Malaysia & Sanofi Pastuer Vaccines, Lion Medical Assistance Fund, Dental Department of Selangor Health Ministry and all individual including doctors, pharmacists, sonographers who spent their whole Sunday weekend by attending and being caring and kind to each and every one the patients. Rotary Club Shah Alam, Rotary Club Bukit Kiara Sunrise, Rotary Club Greater Kuala Lumpur and Rotary Club Klang Central made Humanitarian Project Medical Camp successful.
