Looking For A Beautiful Skin?

Follow Grandma’s Tips

A pimple pops overnight, hair not shiny enough, skin feels too dry! We all have faced these and many other similar hair and skin woes. But instead of panicking and using the wrong cream for it, why not rely on tried-and-tested grandma’s beauty secrets. After all, she does have solutions to almost all beauty problems. Here are a few of them.

Take turmeric powder (haldi) and add a few drops of water and lemon juice to it. Apply it on the acne and leave it for 15 minutes before washing it off. Fuller’s earth (multani mitti) is another great ingredient to get rid of pimples, dirt and oil from the face. Mix some rose water in it and apply it evenly on the face. Allow it to dry and then wash it off and pat dry your face.

Add glow to your face by making a pack of gram flour (besan) with turmeric, lemon drops and some milk cream (malai) which has various benefits. Another way to add radiance to your skin is by mixing orange peel with ground pink daal (masoor ki daal) and a little bit of honey or curd. This will not only give your skin a glow but also exfoliate it.

If dandruff is what is troubling you, then soak methi seeds overnight in water and then grind them into a paste. Apply this on your scalp and leave it for a few hours and then wash your hair with either shikakai or shampoo. Another good remedy is mixing curd with white pepper and applying on your scalp. Curd holds anti-fungal properties which help banish dandruff and other hair and skin problems.

Mix a few drops of honey in olive oil and then massage it well into your hair. Keep it for half-an-hour before rinsing it off with a mild shampoo. You can also take curd (dahi) and mix an egg yolk in it, mix it well and then apply on your locks. This is good for silky smooth hair and it also conditions it well. Using shikakai also helps to get lustrous locks.

If rough hands and cracked heels bother you, then use bee wax to soothe them. Another good way to soften them is to apply petroleum jelly before you go to sleep and wear socks and then wash it in the morning. Making sugar scrub with honey also helps. Apply it on knees, elbows, cuticles, etc to make them soft.
